Royalton Township Board Meeting

 

September 30, 2014

 

Unapproved 

 

           Chair Marshall Pearson called the Royalton Township Board Meeting to order with Supervisor Leslie Orvis, Supervisor Wayne Olson, Treasurer Wendy Tchida, and Clerk Roberta Folkestad present. The pledge of allegiance was recited.

 

            Motion by Supervisor Olson to approve the agenda with additions of: wording to clarify land splits; timecards; Pine County Historical Society; irrigation system, security system; 9435 Apple Road; second by Chair Pearson, motion carried unanimously.

 

            Motion by Supervisor Olson to approve the August 26, 2014 Board Minutes with the changes of “Homer” to “DeGray” and “week” to” weed”, second by Chair Pearson, motion carried unanimously.

 

            The approved July 29, 2014 Board Minutes were signed.

 

            Motion by Supervisor Olson to approve the Treasurer’s Report as read, second by Supervisor Orvis, motion carried unanimously.

 

            After reading and discussing checks 7297 through 7326 in the amount of $46,643.63, motion to approve and pay by Supervisor Olson, second by Chair Pearson, motion carried unanimously.

 

        Candidates: Josh Mohr, candidate for Pine County Commission, District 2; Jeff Nelson, candidate for Pine County Sheriff; and Steve Cundy, candidate for Pine County Attorney were all present and spoke.

 

Public forum:

 

            Chair Pearson called for public comment. There was no public comment.

 

 Old business:

 

            The Conditional Use Permit for 6916 Canary Road, Grasston was signed and witnessed.

 

            Zoning Administrator John Kemen will visit again with the property owners at 9187 Apple Road and Elmcrest Avenue north about deck permits that have not been turned in to the Clerk’s Office.

 

            There is nothing new about cleaners.

 

            Brush and tree removal have been done on Cabin Drive, and other roads north of the river. After discussion, motion by Supervisor Olson to approve another $5,000.00 for brushing and tree cutting to be done in 2014, some along Bears Ear Road, second by Supervisor Orvis, motion carried unanimously.  Some spraying along roads will be done in 2015.

 

            The maintenance building water line covering has been ordered.

 

            The locking box and posting board should be done by the next meeting.

 

            The wheels under the board table and automark cabinet will be done in October.

 

            Supervisor Orvis will purchase a weed whip tomorrow.

 

            The Interim Use Permits, drafted by the Royalton Township Planning Commission, was forwarded to the Board for approval. Motion by Supervisor Orvis to have Supervisor Olson take it to the attorney’s office, and to set up a public hearing, second by Chair Pearson, motion carried unanimously.  

 

New business:

 

            Jerry Effertz was present to comment that the clean up at 9435 Apple Road doesn’t seem to be getting done. Zoning Administrator Kemen will write a letter with the Clerk and remind the property owners about the November deadline set at the July 29, 2014, Board Meeting.

 

            Motion by Supervisor Olson to replace the bad culvert on Majestic Road, second by Supervisor Orvis, motion carried unanimously.

 

            Motion by Supervisor Olson to have the Clerk certify the Township Road Mileage with Pine County, second by Supervisor Orvis, motion carried unanimously.

 

            The Township Annual Insurance policy has arrived and been paid.

 

            Supervisor Olson will check on a sound system for the town hall.

 

            Braham Community Education sent a request for funds and volunteers to help with their annual Halloween Party. Anyone interest can contact the clerk for more information.

 

            Chair Pearson will contact the Landscapers to get the irrigation system blown out.

 

            The wording to clarify land splits was discussed. All land splits must be surveyed and have Board approval.

 

            Pine County Historical Society sent the Chair a letter asking donations. It was stated that should be discussed at the annual meeting.

 

            The security system was discussed and the Clerk will notify Hans at Architectural Audio Integrators about timely information when it is requested.

 

            Time cards were discussed. The signature verifies the card is correct.

 

            The next Town Board Meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2014.

 

            Being no further township business, motion by Supervisor Olson to adjourn, second by Supervisor Orvis, motion carried unanimously, 8:26 pm, meeting adjourned.
