The road inspection began at 9:50 a.m., Monday, 23 April 2018, with Chair Jeff Schlaeger, Supervisor Wayne Olson, Supervisor Marshall Pearson, Road Superintendent Dan Saumer, and Clerk Duane Swanson participating.

Using the attached spreadsheet, originally drafted by Road Superintendent Saumer and Supervisor Olson and adapted by Clerk Swanson, the delegation toured each of the 27.0 miles of township roads.  Chair Schlaeger drove, starting with an odometer reading of 14061.  The main purpose of the road inspection was to review the roads for which the township is responsible.  The spreadsheet contains the status of each road and contains specific recommendations for current and potential future needs.  In accordance with the township letter sent earlier this spring to each landowner in Royalton, the delegation also drove nearly all the county and state road mileage in the township to review the current status regarding potential "junk" and excessive vehicle accumulations. [A small portion of State Highway 70, Greeley Loup, 540th Street west of Red Oak, Brunswick Road between Woodland and Royalton roads, and that portion of State Highway 107 in the township were not driven].

Extensive reviews of the potential turnaround on Eagle Lane, the recently completed DNR parking lot at Bears Ear Road, a potential DNR access at the end of Maple Shores Drive, potential ditching on Cabin Road, the recent ditching projects on Raspberry Road South, the possible ditching projects on Church Road, the culverts on and private graveling of Timber Drive, and the turnaround situation on Clover Lane were conducted.

The attached road notes delineate extended issues regarding specific properties and potential actions needed to comply with the town's zoning ordinances.

At 2:30 p.m., the road inspection concluded, with Chair Schlaeger's odometer reading 14145.

Respectfully submitted,

Duane P. Swanson, Clerk

Jeff Schlaeger, Chair/Supervisor

Wayne Olson, Supervisor

Marshall Pearson, Supervisor
